School Concerts

SCHOOL CONCERTS WITH George Zukerman are something quite different!

Not a concert,

Not a lecture,

Not a "clinic"

Not a "workshop"

... but a little of all of these

Zukerman's school presentations are planned and organized specifically, [and differently] for elementary grades, junior levels and senior schools. The object of each of them is to endeavour to introduce school students to music and musicians.

The students listen, they ask questions, they get to touch [and even blow] the instrument. They leave the session aware that music is an activity that everyone can enjoy, and that musicians are [at least for the most part] ordinary human beings like their own parents, teachers, neighbours.....

Discussion is wide-ranging, covering the music, the composers, the construction of the instrument, the social times of the composition, the role a musician plays in society, geography, travel, history, science, literature, civics.....

Of course, repertoire is played - with shorter works selected for the younger grade students. The Senior level programme adheres more closely to a regular concert format.

School residencies can be organized for three days or more. Allow for up to four "sessions" each day.
