Over the years, George Zukerman has dedicated many hours on many tours to playing for schools in remote and isolated areas around the world.
Here at home in Canada, he frequently calls on the funding assistance of the MUSIC PERFORMANCE TRUST FUNDS, which are administered by contract between the Recording Industries and the American Federation of Musicians of the United States and Canada.
Recently, Mr. Zukerman visited several outlying remote-area schools in the Canadian hinterland, and the MUSIC PEFORMANCE TRUST FUNDS arranged to make a video of this very specialized touring activity. Please click here to view a remarkable twenty one minute video of a very special approach to the introduction of live music performance to primary schools.
If you would like to access this kind of programme for your schools, you can approach the Musicians' Union in your community. Each city has an allocation based on the number of members.
Mr. Zukerman is free to consider residencies for this kind of work [minimum of three days] by accessing the International Reserve Fund of the MUSIC PEFORMANCE TRUST FUNDS. However, he is also free to join with local musicians from your own jurisdiction to present programmes of this kind in your geographic area.
The harder it is to get to your community, the more interesting it is!
